Posted By: Ken on 2008-04-13 21:28:03

We'll be back again at the Rock City Ice House this coming Thursday! We'll be playing with guitar great, Gary Hoey! It's going to be a great night of music and guitar playing. Doug Morrison will be opening up, Meyvn @ 11pm. This will be our last show in Austin for at least two months. We'll be taking a break in May and doing some road shows June. Don't miss this show!

Recording
Posted By: Ken on 2008-04-13 21:19:47

We spent all of last weekend up in Dallas again at Nomad studios. We had a great time laying down the rest of the tracks for our new material. It hasn't even been mixed yet and we think it already sounds incredible! Thanks to Sterling for doing such a great job so far. And thanks again to Scott(Intellitouch Tuners) for putting us up in a hotel in Frisco w/ free breakfast, and I ain't talkin about cereal boxes and cold bagels, real breakfast. We got some random late night antics on film that just might make it on to our documentary-alcohol and wrestling were involved. We'll keep you up to date on when we'll have new songs available to listen to, stayed tuned!

Meyvn in Atlanta June 14th!
Posted By: Drew on 2008-03-28 14:24:52

We'll be headed to Atlanta for the first time this June to play with Mindflow, Halcyon Way, A Lower Deep, and Eclipsed By Sanity! Tickets will be on sale tomorrow at Ticket Alternative (www.ticketalternative.com). Should be an excellent show! We will be playing another show between Austin and Atlanta on Friday the 13th (yikes!), most likely in Baton Rouge - more info on that later!

Recording is going very well so far! The drums came out sounding KILLER and we're just about done tracking guitars and bass. Next weekend we'll be headed back up to Nomad Studios to record vocals, keys, and mix it!

Shows!
Posted By: Drew on 2008-02-22 10:41:01

We've got some shows lined up! March 22nd is going to be our big comeback show after almost 6 months off from live shows, and we're playing at the new Rock City Icehouse! This is a great venue in North Austin - it reminds us of the Backroom, but cleaner, with more parking! We'll also be travelling to Atlanta this summer for a big progressive metal show with Mindflow from Brazil (who we played with at Texas Madfest), and of course we'll have a bunch of shows inbetween!

Check back in a week for studio updates!

Heading to the studio next month!
Posted By: Drew on 2008-02-04 13:24:15

We're heading to Nomad Studios next month to record a couple songs with producer Sterling Winfield, who has produced numerous albums by Pantera, Damageplan, King Diamond, and others. We're pretty excited to be working with the same guy that helped produce some of our favorite albums! We'll be filming the entire process for the documentary and hopefully these recordings will help us find management and a new record label.

Also, we're booking shows again! First one should be in mid-March, so stay tuned for details!

Jon leaves Meyvn
Posted By: Jon on 2007-12-20 11:01:54

“I have decided to leave Meyvn as I no longer have the same interest in the band that I once had. Meyvn is a hard working, talented band with plenty of perseverance so I know they have what it takes to go very far. Some of my favorite moments in life occurred playing live with Meyvn, and I will miss them. The most memorable shows to me were at the Backroom playing with our friends Shrapnel. We also had many frustrating shows playing in barns out in the middle of no where, but it was all great fun and a great learning experience! Thanks to all the supporting fans that continually came to our shows, you will greatly be missed as well. I will of course continue to pursue music although at this point I believe I will be taking a little break from playing metal in general. I will miss the guys and wish them the best of luck! -Jon Simpson”

Ashdown Endorsement!
Posted By: Ken on 2007-12-04 10:27:16

A friend of mine turned me on to Ashdown. Their stuff sounds killer. I've had an Ashdown mini stack practice amp for a while now and finally got a full stack for rehearsal and shows. It's awesome! It makes my bass growl. I'm proud to be endorsed by yet another great company that makes incredible products. Bass players from U2 to Megadeth to Tool use Ashdown. If you haven't heard of Ashdown check out their page.

Meyvn Documentary
Posted By: Ken on 2007-11-26 18:46:10

We hope everyone out there had a great Thanksgiving!

Meyvn will be filming a documentary! It will cover everything from rehearsal, to writing/recording, to playing live shows. There will be candid footage and interviews. We want our fans involved! Ask us questions you want to know the answers to. Send them to New Vision Video on MySpace or email to newvisionvideo@aol.com and it will be more than likely answered in the documentary!

"This is American quality metal of the highest level possible! This is pure class!" 9.2/10 Aardschok Magazine

Conklin Endorsement!
Posted By: Ken on 2007-10-30 15:05:41

I'm proud to announce that I've landed an artist endorsement with Conklin. For those of you who don't know, Conklin makes an incredible line of custom guitars and basses. Anything from 4 to 9 string basses and 6 to 8 string guitars and beyond. I've used the Bill Dickens signature series GrooveTools line designed by Conklin for a few months now and it's the best bass I've ever played on. I can't wait to get my hands on a custom bass! Interview and review from ProgPower Europe!
Posted By: Ken on 2007-10-25 22:23:32

We had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Doherty from Metal Team UK at ProgPower. He was there when Drew and Rick were tossing them back at the bar in Baarlo. I think he's pictured somewhere in our blog. The review is of the entire ProgPower festival, not just our show, so check it out! Metalteamuk.net Click on the interview link and the live review link. Were taking a bit of a break right now but we'll be headed back to crank out some new tunes soon! Try not to suffer too much from the withdrawal.

ProgPower Europe: SUCCESS!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-10-09 11:19:24

ProgPower Europe was GREAT!! The show was amazing, lots of nice people and killer bands! We had an amazing time and we really appreciate everyone who saw and supported us! HUGE thanks to Rene Jansen for putting on such a killer show and having us, and also to the excellent and professional crew that took care of us. And special thanks to Scott Strittmatter and Onboard Research/IntelliTouch Tuners for sponsoring us - we wouldn't have made it over there without your support!

We'll be posting pictures, videos, stories and more once the rest of the band gets back and we get everything sorted out, so stay tuned!

Off to ProgPower!
Posted By: Ken on 2007-10-02 11:14:52

Thanks to everyone who came out to Buffalo Billiards last Friday night, we had a great time despite some mishaps. Rick got a bit bruised up, and the amp got a bit banged up, but both will be fine. Thanks again to the bands that played with us and to Andy for putting it together. Now our sights are set on Europe. In a matter of hours, Jon and Joe(keyboard) will be heading off, and the rest of the band will be leaving in a couple of days. We're stoked and can't wait to show Europe what we're made of. When we get back, we plan on taking a long needed break before heading back to the studio to write some new material. It may be a while before we play live so be patient, we'll be back on stage soon enough. Thanks for all the support!

Buffalo Billiards this Friday, then PROGPOWER EUROPE!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-09-25 15:16:43

This Friday, September 28th, we'll be playing our last show in Austin for a loooong time! This is our ProgPower Europe "send off" show, and we're going to do the exact set we're doing over there plus a few more songs! Also playing are Ethereal Architect, Shadow Ministry, and Remember This - should be an excellent night of metal!!

Buffalo Billiards is at 201 E 6th St. in Austin, TX - $7 cover, 21 and up only (sorry!)

With great sorrow
Posted By: Ken on 2007-09-13 13:29:59

We are truly sad to hear of the passing of one of our biggest fans Kimberly Dees. She was a wonderful person and will be missed greatly. Our show tonight will be a celebration of her life and a dedication to her memory. Our hearts go out to Bob and her children.

Meyvn with Rigor Mortis this Saturday!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-08-20 09:40:27

Time for an update! We've been hard at work preparing for our trip to the Netherlands for ProgPower Europe in a couple of weeks. Needless to say, we're pretty stoked... We've got a couple of local shows between now and then, so if you can't make it halfway across the world for ProgPower you can catch us at one of these shows, the first of which is this Saturday at Room 710! We'll be playing with Texas thrash legends Rigor Mortis, along with Bangladesh, Blood of Patriots, and Demontuary. And to keep things interesting, we'll be playing a new, never-before-played song, a new cover, and some old stuff that we haven't played in a looong time. Show starts at 8 so get there early!

Summer NAMM Showcase!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-07-23 12:12:45

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Madfest, what a show!! Special thanks to John and Tammy and the rest of the Madfest crew for putting on such a kickass show! We'll be posting pictures and videos later, and we were interviewed for Robb's Metalworks from San Antonio so look for us on the show sometime soon!

This Saturday we'll be playing with Outworld and Shrapnel on Saturday, July 28th at Red 7 for the IntelliTouch Tuner NAMM Showcase! NAMM is the National Association of Music Merchants convention held at the Austin Convention Center every summer where instrument manufacturers and retailers get together to decide who's going to sell what. So come on down to Red 7 on Saturday and help us show these NAMMers what Austin metal is all about! This is an EARLY SHOW - we go on at 9pm, so get there early!

Austin show on June 9th!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-06-01 10:11:00

We're back! We'll be doing one show on Saturday, June 9th at the Dirty Dog on 6th street, to keep the chops in shape for Texas MADFEST and the NAMM show in July. We'll be doing a long set at this show, at least an hour and a half, and we'll be throwing in some new songs, so come on out and see us! Also playing are SuperCrash and Shadow Ministry - first band goes on at 10, we'll probably hit the stage around midnight.

Also, we added a new song to the music player in the upper right corner of the website - actually, its a live recording of an old song that we did last year at Firestation Studios with David Glass (of Ethereal Architect). The song turned out great, so we thought we'd share...

Also, thanks to everyone who came out to see our (short) set at the Heart of Texas Festival last Wednesday! We will be taking the next few months off to finish writing material for our next album and we'll be back in July, at the Texas Madfest!

Morley Endorsement / Austin Show This Friday!
Posted By: Drew on 2007-02-19 10:58:56

Meyvn is now officially endorsed by Morley! We're excited about this because we've been using Morley wahs for a long time now - Drew and Jon use the Bad Horsie wah and Ken uses the Dual Bass Wah (which is how he gets some of those crazy bass sounds).

Also, we've got a show this Friday in Austin at Redrum with Azoth and Ethereal Architect! This is a killer lineup of progressive/power/technical/awesome metal you don't want to miss! This is our first Austin show of 2007 because we took some time off to write some new material, so for the next couple of shows we're going to be trying out a new track or two - come on out and tell us if you like 'em!

Drew Signs Endorsement Agreement With Diamond Amplification
Posted By: Drew on 2007-02-12 15:45:19

I'm excited to announce that I have signed an endorsement agreement with Diamond Amplification and I am now exclusively playing on their Spec-Op amp head and cabinets! This is the best sounding amp and speakers I have ever heard, and they are LOUD - so loud that the cops came and shut down our show in San Antonio on Saturday, but that's another story... If you're in Austin on the 23rd, make sure to come see us at Redrum with Azoth and Ethereal Architect and see/hear the Diamond Beast in action!

Meyvn Announces New Drummer
Posted By: Drew on 2006-10-17 10:12:13

We have finally found the missing piece to the Meyvn puzzle: please welcome our new drummer, Reuben Posey! Reuben is a phenomenal drummer from Austin and is well versed in progressive rock, metal, jazz, and anything else we can throw at him. He has been learning the Splintered Skies material very quickly and we've even been able to write a couple of new songs with him, which are turning out GREAT.

We will be playing our debut show with Reuben on December 1st at Redrum in Austin (TX) - more details to follow.

Check out this excellent review of "Splintered Skies" in the latest Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles magazine (issue #98), available at fine retailers everywhere!

"Progressive power metal akin to Dream Theater and Symphony X, Meyvn is led by frontman Rick Clark who really gets into character when he sings, delivering a powerful performance. The band behind him is incredibly tight-knit. Each of the players is a master of his instrument. Fingers run across strings, up and down fret boards and atop keys with the greatest of ease and stunning results. The musical landscape traversed is wide and varied, telling numerous tales of journeys, nightmares and modern crusaders."

Three Good Reasons

Besides the fact that we are playing for the first time at The Red Eyed Fly with By Any Means Necessary, Masochism, Dead Haven and Desinence, here are three good reasons to come out to our next show on Fri. August 11th. First off, we'll be playing a new cover song that night. If you like it when we do "Battery," you should love this choice of Metallica song. Secondly, we'll be playing live, for the first time ever, the longest song on the Splintered Skies album, "One World." And last, but certainly not least, we will debut our brand spankin new song,"How Far We Fall." So come out and help us tear the Red Eyed Fly a new one!

The Backroom Finale and the Bonus Track
Posted By: Ken on 2006-07-30 17:06:06

We want to thank everyone who came out to support all the bands on Saturday at the Backroom. We had a hell of a time and we were honored to be part of the lineup to bring a close to one of Austin's best venues. We hope everyone enjoyed Rick busting the hell out of Drew's "Johnson"(guitar that is). The recording of the new bonus track is almost done and will be ready for mixing and mastering shortly. Jacketweather studios will be handling the mix again and we want to thank them for squeezing us in. Keep your ears peeled for a new song from Meyvn coming soon!

There will be bands all day long, including Shrapnel, Ignitor, Course of Ruin, Manifesto, Jolly Garogers, Big Balls, and more. We are scheduled to go on at 8:30pm - at 9:00pm they are going to start charging cover some come early and see us for free!! After the 29th, the Backroom is CLOSED!

Intellitouch Tuners Endorsement, Last Backroom Show
Posted By: Drew on 2006-07-05 10:46:12

Meyvn has signed an endorsement deal with Intellitouch Tuners! Drew, Jon, and Ken now officially endorse the Intellitouch tuner, which is a "touch" tuner that clips onto a guitar headstock and measures the frequency of the note being played through the vibration in the wood. Makes tuning very easy and convenient!

Also, this Saturday is our LAST BACKROOM SHOW EVER! The Backroom is closing down at the end of the month and this is your last chance to see us at this legendary venue. This was one of the first venues we played in Austin and its been our home for the past few years - we are sad to see it go. Come on out on Saturday and say farewell!!

Come on out to the Backroom while you still can because it will be closing down for good on July 29th :(

The response to our signing with KillZone Records has been amazing so far, and we'd just like to say thanks for all the supportive emails and phone calls and especially thanks to all the people that helped us get where we are today!

New pictures have been posted from us on Local Licks on KLBJ and our infamous Iron Meyvn show. The Iron Meyvn ones are hilarious...

Meyvn Signs With KillZone Records
Posted By: Drew on 2006-06-21 08:31:12

  Meyvn Signs With KillZone Records

KillZone Records is very proud to announce that it has signed Meyvn from Austin, Texas USA. KillZone Records will be releasing the bands debut album Splintered Skies [KZ06]

If you were to look up the phrase complete package you would find Meyvn staring straight back at you. Meyvn brings power, charisma, epic and inspirational playing and vocals that create huge soundscapes of progressive metal that will take your breath away.

This band has it all. The music combines all the best elements of progressive and power metal infused with searing hot guitar shredding, hammered down with the best in heavyweight thrash riffing.

Meyvn delivers soaring, epic melodies and bedazzling rhythms that are fluid and complex. The music has already earned them favorable comparisons to Dream Theater, WatchTower and Symphony X, combined with the brawn of such bands as Metallica, Megadeth, and fellow Texans Pantera, delivering metal music that is truly inspirational.

With Splintered Skies the band have ramped up the power and have aimed for the kill, pushing beyond anything they have done before, delivering a metal album par excellence, no matter the genre.

Meyvn have built a huge fan base both at home, here in Texas and internationally in Greece, Germany and the Far East, with their first self release Last Rites EP. Meyvn were voted The Best Band in Austin 2005 by The Edge Magazine Readers Poll, sweeping the board in nearly every category that they were nominated in. Meyvn initially self-released Splintered Skies which got them noticed at KillZone Records, with such songs as Disturbed and Answer Me already proving to be huge crowd favorites.

Splintered Skies will be released this coming September and will contain new artwork, and a bonus track on KillZone Records. More announcements will be made soon through KillZone Records.

Posted By: Drew on 2006-06-06 14:41:16

Thanks to everyone who came out to the first Iron Meyvn show!! It was a smashing success - we had a blast and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We will probably do this again towards the end of the year since it was so much fun!

The reviews for Splintered Skies are rolling in, and so far they've all been very positive! Here are a few of them:

"I dare you to listen to this album and not throw your head back and put your metal horns up." - Sean Claes
INsite Magazine - June 2006, p. 32

"Austin’s Meyvn is quickly earning the reputation as one of Texas’ most promising progressive metal acts, and this release goes a long way toward reinforcing that idea." - Kevin White
Harder Beat Magazine - June 2006

"Very nice progressive band coming from Texas. Meyvn is pure power/progressive, remind you with bands like Symphony X, Dream Theater, and Stratovarius....bands you are always listen to, bands you always fond of their tones.......just like Meyvn." - Nancy Luke
METAL CENTRE Webzine

Also, CHECK THIS OUT: the episode we did with Inside the Room is finished and it turned out EXCELLENT! You can watch the entire episode here! Thanks a million to the Inside the Room crew for having us on their show!

Finally, we're going to be on Austin 93.7 KLBJ's Local Licks program on June 20th - we'll be talking with Loris Lowe, plugging Splintered Skies and our upcoming shows, and we may even play a song live on the air! So tune in to 93.7 at 10:30 on June 20th!

Bad News...
Posted By: Drew on 2006-02-23 19:32:38

Unfortunately, we had to cancel Saturday's show at Redrum and Sunday's show at the Tattoo Convention in San Antonio - Rick has come down with a very severe case of the flu. We are deeply sorry that we have to do this, as we were really looking forward to both shows, but mother nature is a bitch and apparently doesn't like us. Don't worry folks we will make it up to all of you soon!!!

Jacketweather Studios
Posted By: Drew on 2006-01-02 00:00:00

Happy New Year to everyone! We're happy to announce that we'll be working with David Dreeson over at Jacketweather Studios on the post-production, mixing, and mastering of the new album! Dave is a production wizard and comes highly recommended, so we're really looking forward to working with him and can't wait to hear the material after he's worked his magic on it! It looks like the album will be done in March!

Also, thank you to everyone who voted for us in the Edge Magazine's Best of 2005 Poll!

In The Studio, Day 35
Posted By: Drew on 2005-12-28 02:12:45

All of the guitars are finished! Jon finished his tracks and they sound great - with two guitars the new material sounds very thick and heavy! Ken will start his tracks next week, and then we should be in the post-production phase very soon!

In The Studio, Day 26
Posted By: Drew on 2005-12-14 12:41:27

The vocals are done! Rick has been pounding them out over the past week and a half in the closet of his spare bedroom (insert obligatory "coming out of the closet" R. Kelly joke here), and they sound incredible - the album is starting to take shape! Jon will start laying down his tracks later this week and then Ken will record his bass tracks in early January, so we're probably looking at a February/March release depending on how the mixing/mastering goes. Don't worry it will all be well worth the wait!

And don't forget to vote!

Backroom Show This Friday!
Posted By: Drew on 2005-11-30 16:12:06

This Friday December 2nd we're playing the Backroom with some heavy bands from the Austin Indie Alliance! This will be our last show of the year, and we won't be playing any shows in the first half of January, so this is your last chance to see us live for a while! The first 100 people through the door get a FREE compilation CD with tracks from the bands that are playing that evening (Meyvn, Shrapnel, Rainsliver, Epic).

In The Studio, Day 15
Posted By: Drew on 2005-11-20 23:02:21

The recording is going very well! I've just about finished my guitar and keyboard parts, and things are sounding great. I'm recording my parts in a spare bedroom in my house - it looks like a small Guitar Center in there. Pictures here - the cabinet is miced up in the closet!

We're planning to have the CD finished up in early February and have a CD release party sometime in late February/early March, before SXSW if all goes well. We will have a few shows between now and then, the first of which will be on December 2nd at the Backroom with the Austin Indie Alliance. This will be our last show of the year, so be sure to come out for this one!

The EDGE Magazine Comp. CD Release Show - Thank You!

We've got another show coming up on December 2nd at The Backroom with bands from the Austin Indie Alliance, and that'll probably be our last show until we get this CD finished up, so make sure to come out for that one!

Fire Station Studios
Posted By: Drew on 2005-11-08 07:59:28

This past weekend we went to Fire Station Studios in San Marcos to record some tracks for an upcoming re-release of our old CD, Last Rites. We worked with David Glass, engineer extraordinaire and guitarist for the band Ethereal Architect. The session went extremely well, everything sounded great, and we had a lot of fun. We brought the crew from Pure Metal Sickness with us and they captured the whole thing on video - we've also got some pictures up too.

Don't forget about the show Friday! This is our first show in almost 4 months, and we're only doing one or two more shows for the next couple months, so make sure you don't miss this one!

Next week we'll start with guitars and keyboards, then take some time off as we prepare for our show on November 11th at the Backroom for the Edge Magazine's CD Compilation Release. Well, we're about halfway done with the drum recordings so far. Its a long, tedious, difficult process but the end results are well worth it - everything is sounding great so far!

We're going to be playing one show in December, on the 2nd at the Backroom with the Austin Indie Alliance. More details to come on that one, but it will probably be our only show in December.

If you were at the Azrael's Bane show last weekend you might have seen Rick hop on stage and sing "Wasted Years" with the band! There's a picture and description here, along with stories from AB's recent mini-tour.

We've spent the last two months writing and rehearsing new material for the new CD - there will be 6 or 7 brand new, never before heard songs plus 3 or 4 that we've been playing live for a while now but have never recorded. Looks like the CD is going to be around the 60-70 minute range!

We're doing all of the recording and engineering ourselves, with our own equipment in our practice room. We decided to go this route instead of booking a studio and hiring an engineer because we have fewer limitations this way - its cheap and we have all the time in the world!

So we set up to record drums today. We changed out drum heads, tuned all the drums, and mic-ed everything up. We're using an obscene amount of mics for this, and there's cables everywhere, but it sounds really, really good! We spent a good amount of time tweaking, re-tuning, moving mics, etc. This weekend we'll start doing takes and will hopefully be done with the drums by the end of the month!

Special thanks to Wade VandeSande from Noise Engine Studios / Eden's Twilight for loaning us some mics and recording advice!

Oh yeah there are some more pictures on the photos page.

The Real Texas EDGE CD compilation
Posted By: Drew on 2005-09-30 08:20:02

Our next show will be Friday, November 11th at the Backroom in Austin for The Edge Magazine's Real Texas EDGE CD Compilation release party! This is going to be a great show - we go on at Midnight and everyone that comes to the show gets a FREE copy of the compilation CD. Also playing are Powderburn, Shrapnel, Brotherhood, Tensionspeak, and Hollowpoint. This will probably be our only show for November and we'll be playing a brand new song or two off the new CD (which we're working on), so be sure to come out for this show!

New Web Site!

Welcome to the NEW web site!! We decided to overhaul everything and make it easier for us to update and easier for you to find things. Not everything has been updated yet, but we're getting there... Expect more updates here from now on - we'll be posting some studio updates once we get started!

Meyvn featured on two compilation CDs!
Posted By: Drew on 2005-09-19 10:29:55

The Edge Magazine has selected us to be on their Real Texas EDGE vol. 3 compilation CD! You can read all about it here. It should be out in mid-November. We're also appearing on the AIA compilation CD which will probably be out by December/January. "Power Of Fear" will be our track on both of these compilations.

Still rehearsing the new material - recording begins in two weeks!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-09-01 21:51:21

Well, we're making progress! We're about 95% done with the songs for the new CD, and we hope to start recording drums in October. Nothing much to report until then, so in the meantime check out this article in The Edge Magazine about our North Texas Rock Rally experiences and this review from German website Sacred Metal.

Thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday! It was an excellent show to cap off a year of playing shows all over Texas. We've had a blast and you make it all worthwhile!

Over the next few months we'll be writing some new songs and recording a brand new full length album. Stay tuned for a completely new website design and recording updates and things like that!

Brad Olson has re-joined Meyvn! Brad was the original drummer in Meyvn until he fractured his foot in several places in February of this year. Unsure if he would ever play again, Meyvn recruited James Beeson to fill in as drummer. But after four months of playing shows Meyvn and James came to a mutual understanding that things weren't working out. At this point Brad had finished up therapy and appeared to have healed completely, so we invited him to play in San Antonio with us. Needless to say, he blew everyone away! Brad will be playing with us tomorrow at the Texas Rock Rally and again at the end of the month at the Backroom, so come on out and see the new Meyvn! Welcome back Brad!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-06-28 21:49:38

Its been a crazy month full of shows - thanks to everyone who has come out to see us! We have a couple of shows left in July (including the huge North Texas Rock Rally!) and then we'll be headed into the studio to record a new full-length CD. Also, our CD is now available on CD Baby!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-05-25 21:49:31

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the SOS benefit a success - altogether almost $2000 was raised! We've got some pictures up here and we were on KXAN news that night too! Video to come soon... We'll be back at the Backroom again tomorrow, so if you missed us last time come on out and see us with Ignitor and Shadowkeep!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-05-20 21:49:05

Just a reminder for the Steve Freeman Benefit Carnival this Sunday at the Backroom - you don't want to miss this! 14 of the best metal bands in Austin, silent auction, raffles, food, beer, all for $10 ($8 if you print out the flyer on this page). Show starts at noon, we go on around 3:00, so get there early and show your support for Steve, the Edge Magazine, and the local music scene!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-05-10 21:48:39

We're featured in The Edge Magazine this month! Special thanks to Sharon for writing such a great article on us! If you happen to pick one up, check us out on pages 36 and 37 or read it online here.

Posted By: Drew on 2005-05-07 21:48:14

The last two shows were fantastic! Thanks to everyone for coming out and seeing us and having a great time. We've got some pictures up from these shows, and they turned out as good as the shows did! Next weekend we're headed to Killeen for the first time with our buds Shrapnel and Point of Contact, so if you're in the area, get out to The Beach for an awesome show!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-04-18 21:47:58

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Steve Freeman benefit last weekend. All the bands were great and we were able to raise some money to help him. Also thanks to everyone who saw us this past saturday at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio with James Rivera and Vampyra - we had a great time! We'll be at FBI's in Houston at the end of the month with Eden's Twilight, Azrael's Bane, and Six Minute Century, and at the Backroom in Austin the following thursday with Whore of Babylon, so make sure you catch one of these shows!

Also, there's a new MP3 available here. This is Power Of Fear, a new song we recorded at the end of last year. We've been playing it live and getting some good reactions, so check it out!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-03-24 21:47:31

Steve Freeman, publisher of The Edge Magazine, had a heart attack last Saturday. He's ok now and is getting better by the day. The Austin Indie Alliance is putting on a benefit show on April 10th at Bigsby's to help out with his hospital bills, and we're headlining, so come on down, hear some great bands, and support Steve and The Edge Magazine! Without people like Steve, the local music scene wouldn't be what it is today...

What a crazy week! Thanks to everyone who came out to our SXSW/HOTQB shows last week. The fire marshalls came and kicked a bunch of people out at our Platinum X show, so we're very sorry if you didn't get to see us!

We're also happy to announce that we have found a second guitar player, Jon Simpson! Jon blew us away in his audition with his positive attitude and hellacious chops. We'll be taking a few weeks off from playing shows to get everyone up to speed and then we'll be back in mid-April with the new lineup, ready to kick some ass!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-03-16 21:47:09

SXSW TONIGHT! We'll be at the Dizzy Rooster tonight at Midnight (free show!) and at Platinum X on Friday at Midnight. If you're down on 6th street, come by and see us! Also, Rick is keeping a blog of the whole SXSW experience on the Meyvn MySpace page.

Posted By: Drew on 2005-03-09 21:46:59

We've got some festival shows coming up! This Friday we'll be at the Burnet Metal Fest, then next week we'll be playing the Austin Indie Alliance's SXSW showcase on Wednesday and the Heart of Texas Quadruple Bypass Festival on Friday. In June, there's the Republic of Texas Bike Rally and in July we're headlining the second stage at the North Texas Rock Rally - its going to be a busy year! We've had to reschedule a couple shows in late March / early April, so check the shows page for details!

MEYVN - Austin based Heavy Prog Metal announces the permanent addition of drummer James Beeson to their lineup. Following the recent injury to long-time drummer Brad Olson, James stepped up to the challenge of learning Meyvn's material in an extremely short period of time. His dedication and skill ensured that all the hard work that has been put into the band over the last year would not be in vain. All the members of Meyvn are hopeful that Brad recovers completely from his recent injury and wishes him the very best not only his physical therapy but also in his future musical endeavors. James comes to Meyvn with a long and impressive resume - from his early days with Penetrator in Amarillo to recent Austin metal acts such as Sacred Realm and Octane (which included a tour of the middle east with the USO). James leaves us in no question of his commitment and desire to be the driving force behind the rhythm section of Meyvn. Please join us in welcoming him to the fold.

In further news, we have also begun the difficult process of selecting a second guitar player to add to the lineup. Auditions are already underway and the band knows that with a second guitar player alongside Drew it will give us a much stronger and harder edge. Look for an announcement on our choice for the 5th and final member of the band to come in the next few weeks.

Posted By: Drew on 2005-02-14 21:45:50

James Beeson has stepped up to fill in on drums for us. James is an incredibly talented and very hardworking drummer, and thankfully we're not going to have to cancel any more shows. So we'll see you on the 25th at the Backroom! Also, THANK YOU for voting for us in the Edge Magazine's Best of 2005 poll! We did pretty well, getting #2 Best New Act of 2004, #3 Best Rock Band, and #4 Best CD Release, among others (full list here). We've also got a new video up courtesy of the guys from Point of Contact - this is a brand new song called "Power of Fear".

Posted By: Drew on 2005-02-09 21:45:21

Due to a very unfortunate accident with our drummer Brad, Meyvn has had to cancel our show this weekend at Bigsby's. We are extremely disappointed that we have to cancel but it is impossible given the time frame to find a replacement for Brad. Just so ya'll know, Brad is suffering from a broken foot - Meyvn has many other show commitments in late Feb and March and we are fully aware just how long an injury of this nature can take to heal so we have already lined up a drummer to take over the reigns during Brad's extended absence. Our show at the Backroom on Feb 25th will go ahead as planned, as will all our other shows we currently have booked in March. We hope you'd join us in wishing Brad a speedy recovery and please accept our apologies for having to cancel the Bigsby's show. We'll be back on track and ready to roll at the Backroom on Friday Feb 25th!

Thank you Houston! We had a great time at FBI's the other night with Cremator, Wolfeblitzer, and Tomorrow's Dream, and we'll be back down there in about a month! We've been pretty busy lately working on a new demo and some festival dates, both of which should be posted soon!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-01-31 21:45:04

Our guestbook got hacked a couple times, and some posts got erased. Damn script kiddies... should be fixed now. Some new shows posted on the shows page for February and March, including our first Saturday headline Backroom show! We're working on some summer festival shows, so stay tuned for more info...

Posted By: Drew on 2005-01-23 21:44:52

Wow what a week! Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Headhunter's, The Backroom, and Dreamworld! We had a good show with Point of Contact and Abythos at the Backroom and had a great time in Dallas with Defectus, Fist Engine, Rex Mundi, Affliction, and Little Green Men. Don't worry Dallas, we'll be back soon!

We're working on recording some of the new material right now and writing some more new stuff for a new CD, which we hope to have out sometime this summer. We've been playing some of the new material at the past couple shows, and if the crowd response is any indicator, this is going to be one hell of a CD!

Posted By: Drew on 2005-01-17 21:44:38

Happy new year everyone! We've got a ton of shows lined up in the next few months, so come on out and see us! There's a new live video up from our last Backroom show. We've got a big year ahead of us... stay tuned for some more news and a new website design soon...

Posted By: Drew on 2004-12-20 21:44:29

Thanks to everyone who came out and saw us last Friday! We had a blast playing with Ignitor, Drifter, and Sabbath Judas Sabbath, who all kicked ass! A big thank you to everyone who have supported us this year by coming to the shows, listening to our music, and spreading the word. We're going to take a few weeks off and return in January for another year of fun. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! - Rick, Drew, Ken, Brad

We are deeply saddenned by the death of Dimebag Darrell (Damageplan, ex-Pantera). Dimebag was a pioneer, an incredible guitarist, and an excellent human being, and his impact on metal music is immeasurable. Our condolences go out to Vinnie and his family, along with the rest of Damageplan and all of the fans (like us) who are shocked and dismayed at the loss of a true original and extremely talented Cowboy from Hell.

Posted By: Drew on 2004-11-23 21:44:08

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and saw us at our shows this past week. Also thanks to Eternity Black, Cremator, and Dark Quiet for inviting us down to Houston and Stage of Existance and Shrapnel for kicking so much ass with us last night! For those of you that didn't catch these shows, you don't know what you're missing! We've got a couple more shows happening in Austin next month, so be sure to come out and support local metal. Also, we got a really good review in Progression Magazine, which you can read here.

We've added a bunch of new shows in December and January, ranging from Austin to Dallas. Also, we have t-shirts for sale now! You can buy one at any of our shows, starting at tomorrow's show in Houston!

Posted By: Drew on 2004-11-15 21:43:35

A new short notice show in Houston: we'll be playing with Eternity Black (formerly known as Helstar), Cremator, and Dark Quiet at Forgettaboutit's in Houston on November 20th! Should be a good show, we hope to see you there...

Also, we got a live video up from the last time we played in Houston. The video is of us playing a new song called "Future Untold", which will be on our next CD some time next year.

It's about that time to excercise your civic duty and responsibility as a music-loving citizen and vote... for Meyvn in The Edge Magazine's Best of 2004 poll! Oh yeah, and vote for that other thing on November 2nd too...
